The conger is one of the most common predator fish of Portuguese waters, occurring in rocky areas, up to 500 m of depth. It is mainly nocturnal being that in Berlengas it can be observed during the day in marine caves.
The Berlengas archipelago, located off the coast of Peniche, is recognized for its natural values. LIFE Berlengas appears with the aim of reconciling the conservation of seabirds and endangered plants with human activity.
